Bemutatás

Besides the knowledge or password based and token or key based identification methods the biometric identification becomes more and more important in security sensitive systems. Apart from today - common methods like fingerprint-based or iris-based identification there is a need to develop new innovative methods for increasing the reliability of the identification or making the process simpler. The demand for reliable passive identification is obvious on numerous places where high-level security is necessary. Despite extensive research many problems in other passive identification conceptions (e.g., face recognition) remain largely unsolved, but a new class of biometrics based upon ear features could be utilized in the development of passive identification systems. This new class of biometrics is ideal for passive identification because its features are robust and can be reliably extracted from a distance. While using this method for tracking a previously identified person, we can improve the reliability of identification by analyzing some additional biometric properties, such as height or physique. The goal of our project is to design and develop an identification algorithm, which can be used for passive, supplemental identification based on supplementary biometrics, and is appropriate for the development of a moving object tracking system.
