INTELLIGENT PRODUCT MANUAL FOR MACHINE TOOLS

ABSTRACT
Until recently, the use of advanced technology solutions has played only a
minor role in the introduction of intelligent product support within industry.
However, with significant advances in Hypermedia, Concurrent Engineering (CE),
Virtual Reality (VR), and Knowledge-Based (KB) Systems, it is timely to
consider ex-ploiting this technology for product support. This paper summarises
the application of these tools in the creation of an Intelligent Product Manual
for a CNC lathe.
